Cambodia gets more beauty pageant representatives to the international platforms

The beauty pageant in Cambodia began its history perhaps during Sangkum Reas Niyum, but only in national level. This kind of contest died inside during the civil war before 1993 until it was born again by starting also with international minor competitions and two big ones in 2005 and 2006.

However, a long pause came later. Until the last few years, the kingdom has constantly been wider introduced to international pageants, specifically in 2017 when the first ladies were sent to three among four world’s biggest pageants.

More Cambodian women have actually been participating in international pageants for the last two years due to the local competitions and supports. However, the pageant itself is viewed as pride, but also objectification for women.

Cambodia had its first representatives to two major international pageants, including Mealea Pich to Miss Earth in 2005 in the Philippines and Sun Srey Mom to Miss World 2016 in Poland, according to pageantopolis.com.

The Big Four Pageants include Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, and Miss International, named so by two newspapers.

After a long pause it is a new era for Cambodia in international beauty contests by sending three representatives to these biggest pageants in 2017.

Firstly, Nheat Sophea was the first runner-up in 2017 Miss Grand Cambodia and went to compete for Miss International 2017 title in Japan. Secondly, we also had Em Kunthong going for Miss Earth hosted by the Philippines. Last but not list, Bee Sotheary, a professional model was sent to compete in Miss Universe held in USA. Both of them competed in the first ever edition of Miss Cambodia 2016 before going internationally.

Cambodia has also been competing in a new, popular Miss Grand International. In 2014, Nuo Temsreyneat won Miss Popular Vote title, and Dy Lika who competed in 2018 grasped the top places on various voting categories on the Facebook page of this organization.

Rern Sinat, the second Miss Universe Cambodia, competed in Thailand in 2018, and she got a lot of attention.

My Personal 2023 Reflection  This is my personal note for what I have been through during 2023 and what my ideal goals for 2024 are. I am going to leave and share it here and in case you are interested to read lol.  I guess this is, physically, mentally and emotionally, one of the most active years in my life so far. My life has been better comparing to my first year moving to South Korea, due to my commitment to changing daily life routines for health and social engagement especially but has also been emotionally struggling.  I started my 2023 with seeing the first sunrise at Seoul Tower alone (with the big crowd though). I forgot what I wised back then, but I remembered I did not wish for myself, but my family and friends. Following it is a home visit, something students studying abroad always look for. The new semester started in March, everything was a bit rough because of some difficult classes, but I finally dropped one class, which was something I never expe...

(Tips and Advice) Erasmus+ Scholarship (one semester) at Opole University for PUC Students

By Se Horseng  Dear PUC Fellow Juniors,  I hope some of you are getting excited to finally see PUC has recently announced the 3rd batch of one-semester scholarship for Economics students to study in the charming Opole University, Poland. For your information, I was one of the first batch students of this scholarship who did the mobility in 2018. It was my life changing experience, and I don't want to explain much since I want to let you experience it yourself when you're there.  As you know by the announcement, the scholarship will cover almost every expense, so don't worry about any personal expense (except for visa fee). Again, don't worry; I felt I was once a rich student while staying there Lol. 😂 Now, I think it is quite more important to let you know some tips and my personal advice if you are willing and eligible to apply, in a particular order of the requirements.  (the Official Poster, PUC)  👉You need to be an undergraduate student ( at least yea...
