2019 is 2019; it is not either a good or bad year.

By Pong Horseng

2019 is 2019; it is not either a good or bad year. The year did not matter, but I did because everything happened to me seem to be done by me. I pleased but also hurt myself since I chose to do everything with my own decision and determination.

At the end of 2018, I started to set my own New Year resolution, which was to travel to at least 3 countries in Asia. However, I have been to only 2 countries: Vietnam and Thailand. Should it mean my resolution was not accomplished? Maybe…..But I don’t think so. I have attended 3 programs once in Hanoi (ASEAN Youths on Sustainable Tourism) and twice in Thailand (AUN ASEAN Experiential Learning Program & OR Seeding the Future). I have learnt so much from those three programs and made a lot of friends all over ASEAN, which really enriched my knowledge and grown me as a human being, and that was over my expectations and goals from the previous year. I believe that was the power of determination of achieving the set goal.

What have I achieved excluded from 2019 goals? That is the internship I’ve finished and job I am doing now in the field I love which is communication. I have attended some great workshops and trainings, which contributes to shaping my clearer vision of life. I started to volunteer in an association of students and alumni, which helps me focus on my dream I’d like to achieve in 2020. I also started to write some (not good) articles on my blog. I completed a 10km marathon which I didn't expect I could do. The last but not least thing was to start close relationship with few new people, which gave me both pleasant and unpleasant pieces of experience.

I think I was capable of doing many things more than what I set in 2019, so now I’m not afraid to set more goals to accomplish by the end of 2020:
  • To create  more happiness for own self and people around;
  • To learn at least one new language;
  • To graduate from both university ( if I manage to pass my course at IFL);
  • To read more (at least 50 books) and have at least one translated book;
  • To write more articles and produce educational videos if possible;
  • To travel to at least 3 countries or join  exchange or volunteering programs;
  • To try applying for my master scholarship;
  • To volunteer more; and
  • To reduce producing plastic waste and help promote the advocacy.
I don’t think it matters anyone when I write my goals here. Has ha…..but doing it here really matters me. I hope those who don’t usually set goals for New Year should start to do so.

Wish you all the best for this New Year 2020!

Do more for yourself, your family and community.

  My Personal 2023 Reflection  This is my personal note for what I have been through during 2023 and what my ideal goals for 2024 are. I am going to leave and share it here and in case you are interested to read lol.  I guess this is, physically, mentally and emotionally, one of the most active years in my life so far. My life has been better comparing to my first year moving to South Korea, due to my commitment to changing daily life routines for health and social engagement especially but has also been emotionally struggling.  I started my 2023 with seeing the first sunrise at Seoul Tower alone (with the big crowd though). I forgot what I wised back then, but I remembered I did not wish for myself, but my family and friends. Following it is a home visit, something students studying abroad always look for. The new semester started in March, everything was a bit rough because of some difficult classes, but I finally dropped one class, which was something I never expe...

(Tips and Advice) Erasmus+ Scholarship (one semester) at Opole University for PUC Students

By Se Horseng  Dear PUC Fellow Juniors,  I hope some of you are getting excited to finally see PUC has recently announced the 3rd batch of one-semester scholarship for Economics students to study in the charming Opole University, Poland. For your information, I was one of the first batch students of this scholarship who did the mobility in 2018. It was my life changing experience, and I don't want to explain much since I want to let you experience it yourself when you're there.  As you know by the announcement, the scholarship will cover almost every expense, so don't worry about any personal expense (except for visa fee). Again, don't worry; I felt I was once a rich student while staying there Lol. 😂 Now, I think it is quite more important to let you know some tips and my personal advice if you are willing and eligible to apply, in a particular order of the requirements.  (the Official Poster, PUC)  👉You need to be an undergraduate student ( at least yea...
